Cooke lost their 2nd match of the season in the 1st round of the Crawford Cup to a strong CI side. Not having played for some time and with a number of late changes Cooke were ill prepared for CI who started strongly. Nonetheless the scoreline flattered the home side and if breaks by McCulla and Stewart in the 1st half had resulted in the tries they deserved the story may have been different. CI scored 3 tries with 1 conversion and a penalty in the 1st half for a comfortable lead of 20-0.

Cooke fought back in the 2nd half and were prepared to give the ball width. In the 56th minute the backs moved the ball from inside their 22 and following a break by Donaldson, Mcvicker was on hand to take the scoring pass.10 minutes later the referee awarded CI a dubious try when the ball looked to have gone over the dead ball line. They added a further score in the last minute.

A disappointing result which Cooke will hope to reverse in the league in 2 weeks time.
