The lengthy lay-off from matches together with a very small pitch conspired against a high scoring game played at Limavady Grammar School grounds.

With less than 2 minutes on the clock Limavady number 10, Semple, slotted over a simple penalty when Cooke killed the ball in a ruck.  Cooke had an opportunity to draw level 10 minutes later when Limavady committed a similar offence but out-half Jarvis was wide of the posts.  Limavady returned to Cooke territory thereafter and it was only due to solid defence from the visiting pack that the home side was denied points.  Pressure on the Cooke line was relieved frequently by a series of long range clearances by Jarvis.

Cooke had another opportunity to register points on 25 minutes but a penalty kick by Jarvis was again off target.  The final 10 minutes of the half witnessed a series of close range attacks on the Limavady line by the Cooke eight.  Scrum-half Manning was unlucky to be held up on the line and the Northwest side survived the onslaught to leave the halftime score-line at 3-0.

The second half saw Cooke exhibit more aggression with flanker Dawson and props Seawright and McCullough prominent.  However, it was Limavady who had the first opportunity to score.  A Semple penalty, from beyond his own 10-meter line, dropped just short.  The Limavady out-half was on target 5 minutes later and kicked a further penalty with 10 minutes remaining to give the home side a more comfortable 9-0 margin.  A consolation score, but valuable bonus point, was secured for Cooke by Jarvis with a last minute penalty.

Final score        Limavady 9      Cooke 3.

This was a poor performance by Cooke where disappointment was shared by players and supporters.  Credit must however be given to the competent display by Limavady whose urgency to win was fuelled by the desire to avoid relegation.
