COOKE 2nds 14 BANBRIDGE 3rds 13
Cooke had another narrow win to retain their unbeaten record.the young Cooke side came up against a much more experienced Banbridge XV but again showed great character to come from behind and ensure victory with more to spare than the scoreline suggests.
Jarvis opened the scoring for the away team with a 5th minute penalty. The bigger home pack dominated the early set pieces and took the lead after 12 minutes with a try from a 5 metre scrum. That lead was extended with another try and conversion following a break down the left by the scrum half.Jarvis reduced the deficit with a penalty 5 minutes before the break to leave the score 10 6.
In the 47th minute Banbridge increased the lead wih a penalty.Cooke dominated the remainder of the game but tries proved elusive with Brown coming close on 2 occasions and Doherty making a number of breaks. It was the boot of Jarvis which proved decisive and he kicked 3 further penalties to secure the win. |
